Short Biography

Cristina Duarte Murta was a full professor at the  Computing Department of the Federal Center for Technological Education of Minas Gerais, CEFET-MG, Brazil. She was formerly with the Federal University of Paraná, Brazil, from 1992 to 2007. She holds a Master degree and PhD degree in Computer Science, both from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil. She was visiting researcher at Boston University in 1997 and at University of California Davis in 2005-2006. Her research interests are in computer systems performance evaluation, design and modeling, focusing on parallel and distributed computer systems. In the network science arena, she has been working on characterizing the Internet and Web topologies and their implication on performance issues of Internet and Web-based systems. Retired.
